We need to teach children to see the similarities and the good in people. To treat all their experience with others different and separate. Like meeting a friend from Asia different from a another friend from Asia, because they might both come from the same place, but they are two total different people. Even for one family, each child is different than the other even though they have the same mom and dad. We are all unique in our own different way. My passion is to help children and their families see the difference in people, but know through heart we are all the same. To learn to accept one another.
Thank you to all my fellow colleagues from EDUC 6358 for a very informative and resourceful eight weeks. I have learn more than what I expected to. I wish you all the best of luck and hope to hear from you soon.
Desiree,
ReplyDeleteYes, it is so important for early childhood educators to help children understand and accept that it is okay to be the same as well as different. We must teach our children to embrace everyone from all walks of life. We must learn to accept one another. "Anti-bias education thus strengthens the possibilities for early childhood care and education programs to implement the profession's commitment to foster the development of the whole child" (Derman-Sparks & Olsen Edwards, 2010, p. 17). I also just want to say thank you for being a big part of my online learning experience the past 8 weeks. I have truly enjoyed being in class with you and all our colleagues. I found this class to be very informative and supportive. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Good Luck!!

Desiree,
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of your great input in the last pic eight weeks of the course I have learned so much about your opinion and experience I have learned a lot. And I agree as educators we need to teach children about diversity and one of the best ways to do that is for them to meet people with different backgrounds maybe they come from a different country speak a different language or had a different way of growing up. This would open the eyes of children that diversity is OK and we can except it.
Desiree,
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your wonderful insights during these last eight weeks. I have completed another course with you, and I always enjoy reading about your family and your traditions. I agree it is important for childhood educators to teach and support children in understanding the importance of accepting others being open minded to learning about other cultures. I wish you nothing but the best!!!
